Horse & Hound’s position on buying and selling horses during Covid-19 pandemic
Following the government’s statement on Monday 23 March, we are actively discouraging owners and buyers from either visiting yards to view horses or allowing viewings, as we join the whole UK in, as the Prime Minister puts it, staying at home to support our NHS and save lives.

At Horse & Hound we are also looking for ways to support our equestrian industry and save livelihoods. This is why we are inviting anyone with a horse or pony for sale to advertise for free both on our website and in our magazine. This will enable readers to find horses they are interested in and start planning to view once the lockdown is over, in order that the buying and selling of horses is interrupted for the shortest time possible.

By having the opportunity to ask sellers questions via phone or email prior to viewing, watch videos, organise your finances and get insurance quotes, everything that can keep moving during this time will. We are very pleased to be partnering with KBIS insurance on this project.

To reiterate, we are not encouraging anyone to go and view horses, nor to buy horses unseen, but we are encouraging you to advertise and search for the wonderful horses that will be available to purchase as soon as the lockdown is over, in order that we help keep this part of our industry alive and help horses continue to find ideal homes.
