Very reluctant sale of our absolutely fabulous 12 year old 15hh coloured irish sports horse. 'Pie' has been with us for the last 5 years, carrying my daughter as her first horse at 12, to now being a leggy seventeen year old, with some fantastic experiences and many rosettes along the way! Now sadly outgrown we would love him to go to a fantastic family home to continue doing what he loves.
He has been the most versatile pony you could want - turning his hoof to anything, and coming back with a red rosette most days! He is eye catching, evenly marked and has good solid conformation - no blemishes. He is never lame, sick or sorry. He has straight, rhythmic easy paces, and is a lovely ride in the dressage arena - achieving 74% plus at prelim level. He loves to jump, and has scope to burn - but he is economical and careful over his fences, staying in a rhythm around his courses, and not overjumping.
He is a 'team favourite' due to his consistency in the ring - usually producing a double clear. It is rare for him to fault showjumping. Highlights of his competition career so far include coming 8th at the NSEA National Championships Team Showjumping, and being top of the East Midlands Regional Points League in Just for Schools, 2016. In 2015 he was individual county champion in the 70cm class, and has many wins jumping at 80-90cm including working hunter classes. He loves to cross country - and has popped up to BE novice level fences with ease. He has hunted with the Quorn, where he stood beautifully at the meet, and jumped everything he was pointed at.
In addition to showing his young jockey the ropes, he was an able and willing ride for mum - hacks beautifully, and attended a number of long distance rides with her also. It is unusual to find a horse with the temperament to look after younger jockeys and pilot them around a course, whilst also being scopey enough for an adult to feel comfortable riding him and enjoy. He is equally at home doing both jobs - popping round smaller jumps with younger jockeys, and jumping round much bigger courses with a more experienced rider. And he does all this in a snaffle bridle and a plain noseband!
He is very versatile in his 'living requirements' - he has spent the last five years working and competing from the field, but he is equally at home in a stable. He has exceptionally solid feet, so he has been barefoot. He currently is shod in front, so he is equally as easy to do whatever you wished with his feet. He is a VERY good doer and really food orientated! He requires smaller paddocks to keep his weight in check.
He is easy to handle, and particularly enjoys competing and going out on the lorry or trailer. He is easy to load, travel and handle by yourself if you are going out competing. He ties up quietly next to the lorry/trailer and he is very patient waiting for his turn!
He is currently based for sale with Team Smith Eventers - at LN11 9SN. He was based here when we purchased him five years ago. He is open to any viewing - on site, at competition venues etc. You are welcome to have full vetting and x rays done if required. We are looking for a fab family home for him - who will enjoy him, love him and allow him to carry on the life he enjoys - so please, no dealers!
