Staplecross lies on the B2165 between Ewhurst Green and Cripps Corner and although a small hamlet, it was important during the Middle Ages. It was the central point in the Hundred of Staple that comprised the villages of Northiam, Ewhurst Green, Bodiam, Sedlescombe and parts of Brede, Mountfield and Whatlingon.
